Exposure to sunlight and high temperatures over time can cause self-healing resins to fade and lose their self-healing properties, affecting the aesthetics and safety of vehicles. Therefore, weatherability expert, Everlight Chemical, has specially launched the Eversorb® SH Series light stabilizers for self-healing resins. Eversorb® SH Series not only shorten the recovery time for scratches in self-healing resins, but also effectively enhance the weatherability and heat resistance, preventing performance degradation and discoloration caused by UV light and high temperatures, thereby significantly extending the service life of self-healing resins. Due to the stringent color standards for white car paint, it is crucial to ensure that additives and car film do not alter the color. To address this challenge, we have developed Eversorb® SH2 specifically for white car paints. Its exceptionally light initial color ensures that it does not affect the primer color, meeting the process requirements for white car paint while simultaneously offering excellent weather resistance.

 

As shown in the figure below, Eversorb® SH1 & Eversorb® SH2 were added to self-healing resins and then coated on a glass substrate. It can be observed that Eversorb® SH2, whether added to the resin or coated to form a film, does not affect the initial color of the coating. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for white car paint with particularly stringent color requirements.

 

 

 

Eversorb® SH Series: Comprehensive Protection for Vehicle Aesthetics and Safety

 

In addition to preserving car paint color, Eversorb® SH2 effectively enhances the weatherability of self-healing resins. As shown in the figure below, after subjecting blank test piece and the test pieces wtih Eversorb® SH to a 2000-hour weathering test under ASTM G154-1 standards, the blank one exhibited significant discoloration and roughness. In contrast, the one with Eversorb® SH2 effectively minimized yellowing and fading while maintaining excellent gloss. For even stronger weather resistance, Eversorb® SH1 can be combined with SH2 to provide comprehensive protection for self-healing films.
